Document Conversion Service

Info about Document Conversion

The Document Conversion Service provides students approved for this accommodation with three types (audio, enlarged text, Braille) of accessible course reading materials in three formats (recorded audio, electronic text, and Braille). Students eligible for document conversion need to attend a training session before using the service.

Upcoming Deadlines

  • Summer 2009 on-time requests due before Friday May 1, 2009 for first session courses, but students should begin contacting their instructors and submitting requests as soon as they register.
  • Fall 2009 on-time requests due before Tuesday July 28, 2009, but students should begin contacting their instructors and submitting requests as soon as they register.
  • Requests submitted at least six (6) weeks prior to the start of class will be converted to alternative formats and be made available prior to the syllabus due date.
  • Materials submitted after this 6 week deadline will be processed and made available once on-time requests have been fulfilled.

Equipment

  • RFB&D - CD and WMA/MP3 players are available for loan on a semester by semester basis.
  • Kurzweil 3000 for Windows is available in the campus computer labs (a.ka. InfoLabs) for use by any UW student.
  • Kurzweil 3000 for Windows & Mac is available for installation on the computers of students approved for the Document Conversion Service.
